Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has approved a business development incentive in the form of a Small Medium Enterprise Innovation Rebate for Tony’s Meats Ltd. 

Established in 1963, Tony’s Meats is a specialized meat-processor in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The company sells fresh and processed products to large and independent grocery retailers and the food services sector across Canada. 

Tony’s Meats is undertaking a project to purchase and install a variety of new equipment. This includes a 1300 square foot energy efficient refrigerated storage space and other innovative equipment to maximize productivity at minimum cost and to support volume production of new product lines. 

The company is eligible to earn a maximum Small Medium Enterprise Innovation Rebate of $100,337.63 once the project is completed, based on eligible capital spending in Nova Scotia of $401,350.50.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has approved a business development incentive in the form of a Small Medium Enterprise Innovation Rebate. 

Established in 2015 in Halifax, Wrought Iron Brewing Company Limited operating as Good Robot Brewing Company is a brewery, taproom, and beer garden. To meet demand that is exceeding current production capacity and to accelerate the company’s export plans in the North Eastern United States, Good Robot Brewing Company is investing in a larger facility and production improvements. 

The project at Good Robot Brewing Company will include the purchase and installation of a high-efficiency brewery which will quadruple the company’s production capacity per hour. The project will also incorporate several new technologies which will increase operational efficiency and reduce waste streams. 

The company is eligible to earn a maximum innovation rebate of $499,823.75 through NSBI once the project is completed, based on eligible Nova Scotia capital spending of $1,999,295.00.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has approved a business development incentive in the form of a Small Medium Enterprise Innovation Rebate. 

Established in 2017, Outcast Foods Inc. is a specialized manufacturer of whole food plant powders. The Dartmouth-based sustainable food technology company partners with local and rural farmers to make plant powders from bruised or imperfect food surplus. 

The project at Outcast Foods will include an expansion and the purchase and installation of an innovative new produce drying system. This drying system will allow the company to increase its drying capacity by approximately ten times more pounds of produce per month. The project will also include purchasing other new commercial equipment, and significant upgrades to support Outcast Foods' facility expansion. Through this program, Outcast Foods will enter new domestic and international markets, increase production capacity, add innovative new drying techniques, and help reduce waste in the agricultural sector.

The company is eligible to earn a maximum innovation rebate of $500,000 through NSBI once the project is completed, based on eligible Nova Scotia capital spending of $2,000,000.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has approved a business development incentive in the form of a Small Medium Enterprise Innovation Rebate.

Sensor Technology Ltd. is a leading designer and manufacturer of specialized acoustic sensors and tools for over 35 years. The company supplies oceanography, energy, defense, hydrography, and aquaculture markets. In June 2018, Sensor Technology expanded its Nova Scotia operations adding an underwater sensor production facility in Dartmouth at the Centre for Ocean Ventures Entrepreneurship (COVE). 

Through the benefits of this program, the company will expand to a new facility in Dartmouth. Sensor Technology will also be purchasing new equipment to design and manufacture transducer and hydrophone products. These improvements will enable Sensor Technology to enter new domestic and international markets and increase its overall production capacity.

The company is eligible to earn a maximum innovation rebate of $150,922.57 through NSBI once the project is completed, based on eligible Nova Scotia capital spending of $603,690.29.
