Young talent is already contributing immensely to company growth and innovation in Nova Scotia. Your company can benefit from tapping into this pool of young talent and engaging in cutting edge research, product development, or product expansion into global markets.

In this session we will help you navigate two funding resources, Mitacs and Innovate to Opportunity; both will make it easier for your company to access and hire advanced post-secondary talent who can contribute to your company’s innovation-related projects.

Join us to learn more and better understand how to navigate the application processes.

About Mitacs and Innovate to Opportunity

Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs in Canada for 20 years. Working with 70 universities, 6,000 companies, and both federal and provincial governments, Mitacs builds partnerships that support industrial and social innovation in Canada and allow companies and not-for-profit organizations to work with talented students and postdoctoral fellows.

When a student hire has completed their Master’s or PhD-level education, companies can make them a permanent full-time employee with the support of Innovate to Opportunity (ITO). ITO offsets the costs of hiring a grad for innovative work that will help a company prepare for, expand, or accelerate its export potential. Companies can receive a wage subsidy for 3 years, with up to 50% of the first year’s salary covered by the Province.
