The AI Future: Employment, Ethics & Economics (Livestream)

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a not a new concept. We’ve seen the vision developing for years… and now, it's here and growing rapidly.

Machines can learn and teach themselves. We’ve broken Moores Law and we are moving on to quantum computing. But, what does that mean for society and jobs? What are the consequences? What’s the economic impact? How can we be sure AI is used for good? 

Our speakers will discuss these imporant questions and more during our discussion on "The AI Future". This seminar is open to all business, technology and government professionals interested in hearing from industry leaders about how AI will impact our economy, and transform the way in which we work and live.

Speakers

Jonny Stevens leads the advanced analytics group at Lixar, a data focused professional services firm. With a background in evidence based decision making, business consulting, and big data, he helps lead the journey towards AI for Fortune 500 companies globally. Jonny also sits on the CIO Council of Canada Standards Committee for Ethical AI where he uses his industry experience and passion for business ethics to shape the future of AI standards in Canada.

Carl Sharpe joined Accenture in 2016 and is the global lead for Public Safety Innovation and a Canadian AI leader within Health and Public Service. He has extensive experience working with government, military, communications, resources, and technology. As part of the leadership group that established The Dock, Accenture's global innovation hub, Carl led the development of the Intelligent Decision Support portfolio and served as a domain expert in the field of Security Intelligence and Cyber Security. Carl is also connected to the Vector Institute, a Toronto based partnership of academia, industry, and start-ups that advance the application, adoption, and commercialization of AI technologies across Canada.
