NSBI Venture Capital (NSBI VC) is the equity division of Nova Scotia Business Inc., the province’s development agency.  Since 2002, NSBI VC has partnered with enthusiastic and driven entrepreneurs and investors, delivering the tools and resources necessary for our portfolio clients to stimulate and sustain growth in today’s competitive business environment.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), the province’s private sector-led business development agency, is the investment attraction arm of Nova Scotia. NSBI is committed to helping businesses throughout the province meet growth potential through advisory services, investment attraction, trade development, business financing and venture capital. NSBI VC works with and provides growth capital solutions to Nova Scotia companies - growing the province’s economy. 

NSBI VC has invested about $17 million of its capital to date. Our strategy is to be part of a syndication, initially investing between $1 million to $3 million of growth capital, with the ability for NSBI VC to do follow-on investments. We assume a non-controlling interest, preferring co-investment opportunities that offer a three to five year exit window, leading to a possible merger, strategic acquisition, or listing on a public exchange. Through the creation of multi-investor syndications, NSBI VC has been able to lever an additional $30 million.
