Nova Scotia is again the competitive choice for a leading North American provider of web services for small business and domain-name registration.
Register.com, headquartered in New York City, continues to expand its long-standing Canadian operation in Yarmouth and will open a Halifax office. With the expansion in Yarmouth and additional office, the company will create up to 350 new jobs within the next six years.
The province, through Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), is supporting the growth with a payroll rebate to a maximum of $4,931,552. The Department of Economic Development will also invest a maximum of $1,050,000 for recruitment and training. Both are incremental investments tied to hiring targets.
"The province is pleased to support Register.com as it strengthens its small-business focused products and creates more opportunities for the people who live and work in Nova Scotia," said Economic Development Minister Angus MacIsaac. "Assistance from NSBI and Economic Development plays an important role in ensuring the company continues to grow in Yarmouth and create a new Halifax location."
Register.com's Yarmouth location is among the town's largest employers, with more than 250 full-time jobs.
"Over the past 10 years, our Yarmouth facility has been critical to the relationships we have built with our customers," said Larry Kutscher, CEO of Register.com. "We are excited to leverage the success we have built in Yarmouth as we further develop the support and expertise we offer our small-business customers."
"We have the right mix of technology and talent to support business growth in all parts of the province," said Stephen Lund, president and CEO of NSBI. "With strong global players like Register.com, Nova Scotia continues to offer world-class job opportunities."
