An experienced and recognized business leader has joined Nova Scotia Business Inc.'s board of directors.
Economic and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Percy Paris and NSBI board chair Jim Eisenhauer, announced the appointment of Bert Frizzell, CEO of The Shaw Group today, Oct. 19.
"The business leaders who make up NSBI's board of directors exhibit a true commitment to growing the province's economy," said Mr. Paris. "Bert Frizzell's financial and management expertise, combined with his understanding of Nova Scotia's economy, will further strengthen the impressive skills and experience of NSBI's board of directors."
Mr. Frizzell joined The Shaw Group in 1974, and has held senior management positions in several operating divisions, including president and chief operating officer.
"I am pleased to welcome Bert Frizzell to NSBI's board," said Mr. Eisenhauer. "He is a proven, successful business leader, and his extensive experience and knowledge will be a valuable asset to the NSBI board."
Mr. Frizzell is on the board of governors of Acadia University and is a director of Heritage Gas. He has served as a director of Masonry Canada, the National Concrete Masonry Association (USA), Concrete Masonry Producers Association of Canada and as treasurer and past chair, Clay Brick Association of Canada.
Mr. Frizzell is a graduate of Acadia University and Harvard Business School's Executive Management Program. In 2008, he received his Fellow of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada.
"I am pleased to be appointed to NSBI's board of directors," said Mr. Frizzell. "I look forward to working with my fellow board members and the team at NSBI to help grow the economy in Nova Scotia." Board members may serve up to four years per term and cannot serve more than two consecutive terms. There are 13 NSBI board members.
