Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) is bringing its Executive Development in Global Entrepreneurship (EDGE) program into the spotlight once again.
First introduced in 2003, the EDGE program is an intensive competition that gives two Nova Scotia entrepreneurs the opportunity to strengthen their entrepreneurial skills and expand their international business contacts.
The two successful applicants will be able to choose between two, three to five-day courses at Babson College's Corporate Entrepreneurship Program in Wellsley, Mass. and Sloan's Entrepreneurship Development Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass.
Both courses are designed to develop the entrepreneurial spirit of business leaders who work hard to inspire innovation in their businesses. With the help of the EDGE program, emerging and established entrepreneurs become business ambassadors and strengthen the relationship between Nova Scotia and New England.
"It was truly world-class. From the lectures, to the curriculum and the people in attendance, it was a phenomenal time," said James Craig, one of the 2004 EDGE winners and president and CEO of Diaphonics Inc., Halifax. "MIT's commercialization process is a truly awesome sight to behold. The learning experience has topped all others in my life."
The EDGE program covers costs of the program, course materials, accommodations and travel arrangements. The selection committee for the program consists of Nova Scotia business leaders representing many industries including academia and business development.
EDGE was created by NSBI to address an expressed desire by entrepreneurs for continued executive development programming. The application deadline for the program is Oct.30.
Nova Scotia Business Inc. is Nova Scotia's private sector-led business development agency. NSBI is the investment attraction arm of the province and helps companies in Nova Scotia meet their growth potential through business advisory, export development and financial services.
