Nova Scotians can look forward to new and flexible job opportunities as Hogg Robinson Group (HRG), one of the world's largest corporate services companies, expands its Halifax operation.
Finance Minister Michael Baker, on behalf of Economic Development Minister Richard Hurlburt, was joined by Richard Butterworth, chief operating officer for HRG in Canada, and executive vice-president, operations, for HRG in North America, and Stephen Lund, president and CEO of Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) today, Oct. 19, to announce the company's expansion plans in Nova Scotia.
"Nova Scotia has the skilled workforce needed to meet the demand of HRG's expansion," said Mr. Baker. "This international company will also provide flexible and unique training and working opportunities for its Nova Scotia employees."
NSBI will provide a payroll rebate set at a maximum of $1,218,000 over a four-year period to help create up to 250, full-time positions.
"Increasing our Halifax operations supports HRG North America's objective to enhance the range of services we currently offer our clients," said Mr. Butterworth. "Twenty per cent of the new positions will be 'work from home agents' creating flexible job opportunities for Nova Scotia's diverse workforce."
HRG North America currently employs about 100 people in Barrington Tower, Halifax. To accommodate the increased workforce, the company will occupy another floor of the building with an additional 1,080 square metres (12,000 square feet) of space.

"It began with only three employees and we are very proud that it is now owned by Hogg Robinson Group, the international corporate services company whose worldwide network extends to 96 countries.
