Make room for Nova Scotia's fashion industry.

In 2010, inspired by the women of the G8, four Nova Scotia fashion designers collaborated on collections specifically designed to celebrate each one and her individual fashion flair.  See what they put together for Laureen, Michelle, Samantha, Carla, Nobuko, Margarida, Angela, Svetlana and Geertrui.

This campaign resulted in tremendous attention for our designers. Please check their websites for an up-to-date view of their uniquely Nova Scotian designs.

The "Carla" Collection ~ France

The Carla Collection

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is chic, trendy and not afraid of making a statement. Her high-profile lifestyle, rich in experience, art and cause has fashioned Carla to become one of the most followed and photographed first ladies of France.

The "Nobuko" Collection ~ Japan

The Nobuko Collection

Nobuko Kan is the latest addition to the circle of women to grace the G8. Her husband was recently elected as the Prime Minister of Japan in June. Nobuko’s style is thoughtful, direct and low-key. Although she may not care to be in front of the cameras, she is very aware of the big picture.

The "Margarida" Collection ~ European Commission (Representing the European Union)

The Margarida Collection

Highly photographed and noted for being glamourous, Margarida Sousa Uva Barosso is wife of José Barroso, president of the European Commission. Margarida’s position, power and influence are highly valued as a member of the Board for the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.

"Women’s rights worldwide is a hot button issue this time around, so it’s fitting that entire fashion collections were carefully crafted with these leading ladies in mind. The collections celebrate the power of women, fashion and Nova Scotian talent."
