Nova Scotia Trade Executive Graduates With Top Mark

Nova Scotia trade executive Kelly Carter will be honoured with the 2005 International Business Plan Award. Ms. Carter achieved the top mark across Canada in the International Business Plan component of the FITTskills curriculum, and will be honoured at the Forum for International Trade Training's (FITT) national conference this week.

The Forum for International Trade Training is an organization that develops and provides programs and professional certification in international trade. Its programs and certifications are designed to prepare businesses and individuals to compete successfully in world markets.

Ms. Carter, a trade development executive with Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), will receive her FITTskills diploma on Wednesday night.

"I'm truly honoured to receive the International Business Plan Award," said Ms. Carter. "The skills and knowledge I've developed through my FITTskills training apply directly to my everyday work."

On Tuesday, June 13, and Wednesday, June 14, delegates will gather at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax for the ninth annual national conference. The event is being held for the first time in Atlantic Canada.

The conference provides opportunities for delegates to network with other professionals in the industry, and to strengthen their international business skills and strategies.

The conference offers a range of workshops and speakers. Keynote speakers include Colin MacDonald, CEO, Clearwater Seafoods; Albert Bohemier, CEO, Survival Systems Ltd., and; Stephen Poloz, senior vice-president and chief economist, Export Development Canada.

Dinner, presentation of the FITT educational awards, FITTskills diplomas, and certification of international trade professionals will conclude the two-day event. Ms. Carter will join 41 Nova Scotians who have completed the FITTskills Diploma.
