Ambassadors, high commissioners and foreign service officers will learn more about the education opportunities available at Nova Scotia's world-class universities, community colleges, public schools and private training schools.
EduNova, Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) and the Department of Education are partnering on a joint mission to Ottawa today, Feb. 15.
The mission will raise the profile of Nova Scotia as an education and training leader and promote the province's education system and training services.
"As experts in education, Nova Scotia has the capacity and ability to export education services around the world," said Education Minister Karen Casey. "Nova Scotia is an international education resource for secondary and post-secondary students everywhere."
With Nova Scotia's 11 universities and award-winning network of 13 community colleges, the province is a destination of choice for more than 4,000 international students every year.
"Nova Scotia offers a full range of programs to meet the needs of both secondary and post-secondary students," said Ava Czapalay, president and CEO of EduNova. "Nova Scotia's education and training providers are truly international, having shared their expertise with people in over 100 countries, and having conducted world-class research that positions Nova Scotia as a leader in education."
As part of the Ottawa mission, delegates will attend an information session where Jeong Jeong Ra, a Grade 12 student at Northumberland High School, and Alyaa Abouzied, a medical student at Dalhousie University, will share their experiences as international students in Nova Scotia.
"Education and training are vital to Nova Scotia's economic growth," said Stephen Lund, president and CEO of NSBI. "Our strength in this field has been a key component to our many recent investment successes."
EduNova is a co-operative industry association of education and training providers in Nova Scotia and is the only provincial education and training co-operative in Canada.
Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) is Nova Scotia's private sector-led business development agency. As the investment attraction arm of the province, NSBI helps companies in Nova Scotia meet growth potential through business advisory, export development and financial services.
