This year's winners have already been recognized in their communities for excellence in exporting. One of the companies will be named Nova Scotia's exporter of the year. The event is presented by Nova Scotia Business Inc., and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
"Each year, about 850 companies produce exports worth almost $16 billion," said Percy Paris, Minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism. "Congratulations to all of the companies for their excellence in exporting. - Velsoft Training Materials Inc., New Glasgow
- CGI Information and Managements Systems, Halifax
"Establishing and expanding new export markets is an important driver of Canada's economy and is a priority for the government of Canada," said Gail Shea, Minister for the Atlantic Canadian Opportunities Agency (ACOA). "We congratulate the winner and nominees for the Nova Scotia Exporter of the Year Award. It is their hard work that creates jobs, growth and long-term prosperity for the businesses and people of this region."
This year's keynote speaker is Richard Riley, Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General Office in Halifax.
"Nova Scotia companies are competing and winning internationally. Last year we helped our clients do business in over 40 countries," said Stephen Lund, president and CEO of Nova Scotia Business Inc. "Businesses are doing great things in Nova Scotia and we need celebrate their work and help them keep the momentum."
