With scheduled air service into Nova Scotia available from all major Canadian cities, from all major United States cities through connecting hubs at Boston and Newark, and from major European cities through the connecting hub in London, the Halifax International Airport is among the busiest in the country. Charter services are also available from Nova Scotia to many Canadian and European cities.

The Halifax International Airport features more flights to more destinations than any other airport in Atlantic Canada, and sees over three million passengers pass through its gates each year. Sitting on 960 hectares of land, this airport is only 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the downtown of the province’s capital city, Halifax.

In addition, the Halifax International Airport has recently earned three top-place finishes in the 2005 AETRA airport customer satisfaction survey, conducted by the International Air Transport Association and co-sponsored by Airports Council International. With 66 airports participating in the survey, including London Heathrow, Sydney (Australia), Amsterdam Schiphol, Beijing and Denver, as well as other Canadian airports, including Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa and Toronto. Halifax International Airport ranked first in overall passenger satisfaction for airports worldwide with under five million passengers for the third year in a row. This is also the second time Halifax was rated as best airport in the Americas of any size for overall satisfaction and best domestic airport worldwide.
