Nova Scotia is the eastern-most province on Canada's mainland, surrounded by water on three sides, and is closer to Europe than any other east coast port of call. You can be in Boston or New York in less than two hours by air, and London in less than six, making the province the ideal location for international trade.
The Halifax International Airport features more flights to more destinations than any other airport in Atlantic Canada, and sees over three million passengers pass through its gates each year. Sitting on 960 hectares of land, this airport is only 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the downtown of the province’s capital city, Halifax.
In addition, the Halifax International Airport has recently earned three top-place finishes in the 2005 AETRA airport customer satisfaction survey, conducted by the International Air Transport Association and co-sponsored by Airports Council International. With 66 airports participating in the survey, including London Heathrow, Sydney (Australia), Amsterdam Schiphol, Beijing and Denver, as well as other Canadian airports, including Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa and Toronto. Halifax International Airport ranked first in overall passenger satisfaction for airports worldwide with under five million passengers for the third year in a row. This is also the second time Halifax was rated as best airport in the Americas of any size for overall satisfaction and best domestic airport worldwide.
