The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) are organizing a multi-sector trade mission to Norway and Iceland. Companies have the option to participate in one or both of the markets.
The first part of the trade mission will take place in Norway from October 18 to 22 with the option to continue on to Iceland from October 25 to 28.
Nova Scotia companies have had success in both of these markets. Last year, ACOA and NSBI led its first trade mission to Norway and discovered that there are many business opportunities in the market. This mission is an excellent opportunity for companies to follow-up from last Spring's mission, and for new companies to explore the market.
Over the years, Nova Scotia companies have continually had success in Iceland. Although Iceland’s economy experienced some challenges over the past couple of years, things are improving steadily and the country has continued to see growth in the last two quarters of this year. It is important that our province's companies continue to build on existing relationships and seek business opportunities in the Icelandic market.
The advantages for doing business in Norway and Iceland are very similar. The benefits include:
* Decreased tariffs: As a result of the Canada-Bilateral Trade agreement with EFTA countries; * Similar key industries including natural resources, oil & natural gas, and fisheries; and * Favourable transportation routes.
As a trade mission participant, companies will be provided with:
* Business matchmaking services: An in-market expert will set up meetings tailored to your company's specific goals and objectives with businesses. * In-market ground transportation * Networking receptions
Companies have the option to participate in one or both of the markets for a set fee of $1,000. Participants are responsible for the cost of round trip airfare, accommodation and meals.
