Based in Halifax, NS and reporting to the Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst leads the budget planning and forecasting processes of the Corporation. This position is an integral part of the monthly financial statement, year-end audit process, and will assist the Controller in all areas of financial accountability.
Duties:
- Preparation and administration of the annual budget (coordination, development, maintenance and prioritization of annual budget);
- Month-end and year-end financial reporting (involved in the preparation of financial statements, transaction reviews, and the year end audit);
- Financial analysis and development of reports (gathers data, prepares performance metrics, reviews expenditure trends, conducts reconciliations and prepares analyses and recommendations);
- Monthly forecasting (coordination, analysis, and report preparation);
- Prepares third-party remittances for payroll;
Qualifications:
- Incumbent must possess an undergraduate business degree from a recognized university; an accounting designation (completed or nearing completion) would be considered an asset. Equivalent experiences may be considered.
- Must be able to visualize and create a logical, flexible, and easy-to-understand budget process that addresses the needs of a diverse group;
- Must have experience with the preparation of budgets for multiple stakeholders;
- Must have a strong understanding of financial statement preparation; exposure to fund accounting is an asset, but not required;
- Experience with SAP (both financial and payroll modules) is strongly preferred;
- Must have excellent spreadsheet skills;
