Consolidated Fastfrate
Building on Success
Since Consolidated Fastfrate began operations in 1966, the company has enjoyed strategic partnerships with growing companies like Canadian Tire. Since 1990, Home Hardware Limited has also developed a partnership with the company. Leonard Boyes, Traffic & Inbound Logistics Manager of Home Hardware Limited, says Consolidated Fastfrate “have always been proactive in our supply chain management processes, on the cutting edge of technology development and ensuring an enhancement of the partnership to the valuable state it is today. They are one of our top suppliers."

In 2006, Consolidated Fastfrate built on its growing success by announcing the construction of a major new cargo distribution and warehouse facility in Dartmouth. Nova Scoita was chosen as the site for the new, 90-000 square-foot facility because of its competitive advantages as a major shipping and distribution hub for North America. This development also reinforces Nova Scotia’s position as a leading gateway to North American markets and creates hundreds of new jobs for the province’s workforce.

Business Result Achieved:Prosperity
Nova Scotia is seeing many employment and economic benefits of Consolidated Fastfrate’s new cargo distribution and warehouse facility. The company’s state-of-the-art transload, distribution and warehouse centre processes about 70 marine containers daily. Up to 180 new jobs are being created at the distribution centre. An additional 75 jobs will be created to truck freight across Canada and the United States.

Currently, we transload approximately 20,000 containers a year in Vancouver and we expect to replicate that service in Halifax, making Fastfrate the only company working the east and west coasts of Canada.
