Recognize the Strategic Advantage

Clarke Inc. is located across Canada and has more than 650 employees and contractors.  Through its five operating divisions, Clarke Transport, Clarke Logistics, Concord Transportation, Clarke Road Transport, and Clarke Contract Services, the company offers a variety of transportation, highway and contract services between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.

In 2005, Clarke Inc. showed that Nova Scotia is where companies and people want to invest by strategically relocating its headquarters from Ontario to Halifax. Clarke Inc. has a long-standing operational presence in Nova Scotia. The company's trucks are a common sight throughout the province and across the continent. Shortly after the announcement of its relocation, Clarke Inc. began the process of transferring from Ontario to Halifax to take advantage of cost efficiencies, a talented labor pool, quality of life and the strategic advantages of a Nova Scotia location.

Business Result Achieved: Opportunity
Clarke Inc. recognized the variety of opportunities that Nova Scotia had to offer by relocating its headquarters from Ontario to Halifax. In 2005, NSBI invested in Clarke Inc. with a $1.9-million payroll rebate based on performance targets for positions at the company's new national headquarters. This relocation means many employment opportunities for Nova Scotia’s workforce. As a performance-based incentive, the payroll rebate will support the hiring of up to 95 full-time employees.

Not only does it (Nova Scotia) offer the lifestyle and talent pool we seek, the excellent infrastructure base and cost-effective business climate will generate additional efficiencies and opportunities for the company.
