Sector Strategist

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) is Nova Scotia's private sector-led business development agency. Through trade development, investment attraction, business financing and venture capital, we assist local companies and attract international companies to Nova Scotia. 

Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Strategy & Intelligence, the successful applicant for this role will be responsible for providing research and intelligence to NSBI with emphasis on a specific industry sector, and in support of other industry sectors. 

As the Sector Strategist within the Corporate Strategy & Intelligence team, you will be expected to:

  • Become an expert and keep up to date on the latest developments, trends and policy announcements affecting your industry sector on a global scale;
  • Interpret technical data and research materials about your sector(s), and make recommendations to senior management to assist in business development and marketing;
  • Be a leader - create and implement plans to grow your sector(s) in Nova Scotia;
  • Establish effective working relationships with industry personnel including industry associations, government departments & agencies, and consultants;
  • Represent NSBI on external committees and working groups;
  • Mentor the NSBI Corporate Residency MBA student through his/her work term.     

 
Qualifications

  • Have an MBA degree or alternatively have an undergraduate degree in a Business related discipline with a minimum of two year’s relevant work experience; 
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Show strong project management skills;
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team; 
  • Possess strong computer skills with a high degree of proficiency in                    MicroSoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
