George de Berdt Romilly, president of de Romilly & de Romilly Limited, an environment and labour consultancy firm from St. Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia, is in Kathmandu, Nepal, working on an International Financial Institution IFI-funded project.
Mr. de Berdt Romilly has been retained by the Asian Development Bank as Team Leader to assist the Government of Nepal in formulating a US$110 million Strategic Program for Climate Resilience.
This is just one example of a Nova Scotia company proving itself as world-class expert in its field and winning international contracts.
International Financial Institutions are banks that have been chartered by more than one country – many of which include Canada as a charter member. Some of the larger IFIs include the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Asian Development Bank and the African Development Bank, among others. These banks provide valuable funding support and technical assistance for development projects aimed at improving both social and economic conditions in borrowing member countries. Hundreds of billions of dollars each year are contracted for goods and works, and consulting services under loan and technical operations.
